Dr. Hall first became interested in obesity surgery in 1979 and performed his first weight loss surgery in 1981. With more than 28 years of bariatric surgery experience, Dr. Hall has become one of the most experienced obesity surgeons in the country with well over 5,000 cases. It is this experience that has positioned him as the most sought-out bariatric surgeon in West Texas and New Mexico. Dr. Hall has also demonstrated bariatric surgeries to interested physicians and has personally taught many seminars on weight loss surgery all over the U.S.

Dr. Hall's Approach
Dr. Hall takes a 'personal touch' approach
to obesity surgery. Spending several hours

with patients prior to surgery, he explains the surgery, patient expectations, outcomes, risks and alternatives. If necessary, he even draws pictures to help the patients understand and ‘see’ what he is going to do in the surgery

Dr. Hall and his staff make an effort to visit his patients every day while they are in the hospital and never makes plans to leave town with patients still in the hospital, a rarity for most doctors. Dr. Hall's approach centers around the belief that when patients ask him to be their surgeon, it is his duty to work with them throughout the entire surgical process. Follow up and Group Support meetings are also extremely important to Dr. Hall. He conducts all of his group support meetings himself!

When asked what things Dr. Hall enjoys if he's not doing surgery, he says, "Cooking, reading, computers, grandkids and his two dogs!" His family says Dr. Hall is quite the gourmet chef!

Education
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Hall completed Medical School at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. In 1981, he finished his five-year General Surgery residency in San Antonio and immediately began to pursue his interest in bariatric surgery. While in school, Dr. Hall received multiple scholarly honors, including Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi Honor Societies and the CIBA Best Student Award in Medical School.

Professional Associations
Dr. Hall is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. To satisfy his interests in weight loss surgery and to remain current with the latest surgical techniques, he is a regular member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and attends their international obesity symposia each year.
